Paula Escobar He's not related to the famous drug lord, nor does he have anything to do with Manolo's car disappearing; he's a music player for mobile devices developed by Adeptum Labs, which, although not a program for AmigaIt is born directly from the technology and music scene of the platform.
The project runs natively on Linux, macOS, and Windows as a single executable, without requiring the installation of a Java virtual machine. It is released under the GPL 3 license and is also available as a JAR file.
The player is compatible with a wide variety of music formats linked to the retro scene, including ProTracker modules and other trackers via JavaMod, DigiBooster Pro 2 and 3, AHX, HivelyTracker and SID, as well as Atari SAP and common audio formats.
A significant part of the development has focused on correctly reproducing the formats used in AmigaThe DigiBooster and AHX/HivelyTracker replayers were developed by the author from libdigibooster3 and hvl_replay.c. Their functionality is verified using reference renders to ensure that playback matches sample by sample with the original C implementations.
It also incorporates support for LHA and LZX files, modules compressed using XPK, and files contained within other compressed files, processing them to locate the music they contain.
One of its most interesting features is its integration with Demozoo. Paula Escobar allows you to browse music competitions from 68 demo party series, including events like The Party, Assembly, The Gathering, Breakpoint, Revision, X, and Icing, viewing results year by year. When you select an entry, the program downloads the module from scene.org, Modland, or ModArchive and begins playback. It also allows you to browse ModArchive playlists.
The interface uses 24-bit color and includes song information, active instrument, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscopes with Braille dots for each channel, waterfall, and vectorscope. Additionally, it's possible to mute or unmute individual channels by clicking on their corresponding oscilloscopes.
The developer is also seeking community collaboration to identify potential differences in replayers compared to a Amiga real or reference players, as well as to identify compression or packaging formats used in Amiga that are not yet compatible.
