Games That Weren't has released new details about a previously unreleased version of Hired Guns, the popular action RPG developed by DMA Design and published by Psygnosis. This edition was developed to take advantage of the capabilities of the Amiga AGA and CD32, although it was never commercially released.

The project was developed by Scott Johnston, programmer of the original game, in his spare time. The enhanced version incorporated 256-color graphics, new sound effects, additional weapons, a new introduction, redesigned menus, and a lighting system that added greater depth to the environments.
Specific features of the CD32 were also tested, including remote control, although this adaptation was incomplete. The prototype retains numerous functional elements, but still has errors and unfinished parts.
Research Games That Weren't It includes an interview with Steve Hammond, the original writer of Hired Guns, who provides insights into the project's development and history. Hammond also explains how he managed to preserve Johnston's development files after Johnston left the platform.
The preserved material includes design documents, graphics, sketches, weapons information, and manual-related materials. The prototype and development files can currently be downloaded from [website address missing]. Internet Archive.
